England fast bowler Jofra Archer has been dropped from the squad for the second Test against the West Indies due to a violation of the Biosecurity Protocols. He will now have to remain in isolation for 5 days and during this time he will have two tests for COVID-19.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said in a statement, 'England's Jofra Archer has been excluded for the second Test match against West Indies starting today (Thursday 16 July) at Old Trafford for violating the team's biosafety environment. '
ECB said in a statement, 'Archer will now have to remain in isolation for 5 days and during this time he will have two tests for COVID-19. He will be able to get out of isolation only when both the tests come negative.
Archer said, 'I am deeply sorry for whatever happened. I risked not only myself but the entire team and management. I accept the consequences of this act and I apologize to every person living in a bio-protected environment. '
The ECB has also said in its statement that the West Indies are aware of this latest happening and are satisfied with the measures taken.
